neglect Culpable omission to perform a duty. One who undertakes the care of another who, by reason of sickness or age, is incapable of providing necessaries for himself, is criminally responsible if his conscious neglect causes the death of that other, (in a case of manslaughter it is not necessary to prove that the defendant was reckless as to whether the victim might suffer serious bodily harm or death).
