endorsement of claim A writ must be endorsed either with a full statement of claim (known formerly as special endorsement ) or a short statement of the nature of the claim or remedy or relief required. The writ must be endorsed with a claim for fixed costs where the claim is for a debt or liquidated demand, and with the plaintiffs address and, where appropriate, his solicitors name and address.
