Halal Certification Process:

Step 1: Submission of application form, which includes:

  1. Application Form;
  2. List of Ingredients (additives, chemicals).

Step 2: Revision and information

  • HCA reviews the application form;
  • Consequently, HCA informs the applicant of the certification fee. A certification contract will be signed once the applicant agrees with the fee.

Step 3: Stage 1 Audit

  • Stage 1 Audit is a pre-evaluation process that is conducted to review the availability of applying Halal standards before Stage 2 Audit may be conducted. Here, HCA reviews the necessary documentation provided by the applicant.
  • Time is of the essence during this stage where any application beyond 90 days is considered invalid.
  • Necessary document to be provided during Stage 1 Audit:
    1. Process flowchart;
    2. Quality Control Plan;
    3. Record of certified products;
    4. Record of ingredients
    5. Other Quality Management System Certificate

Step 4: Stage 2 Audit

  • Stage 2 Audit is conducted once Stage 1 has been completed;
  • During this stage, the conformity of products will be evaluated accordingly to halal requirements.

Step 5: Review report and issue of Halal certificate

  • An audit team will prepare an audit report based on an on-site audit that is to be submitted to the applicant once HCA has completely reviewed all the necessary steps, and consequently made certification decisions.
  • In the event there is non-conformity of products with halal requirements, the applicant must do corrective action and submit them to HCA along with evidence of such correction within 30 days from the on-site audit.
